Hi, Friends.....
I'm not a big tag maker.....(understatement of the year, there!)....but in my efforts to use scraps, I realized some tags were in my future.
Layered cards are my typical style, but I hate to "waste" all those lovely middle parts of the decorative mats that have panels above them. So I frequently die cut a shape from the hidden underneath layers for future use.....and quite often that is a tag. But then I don't use them!! Eeek!!! So I grabbed a couple of them to attempt a simple layered tag.
It's hard to tell in this photo, but the white piece is dry embossed with snowflakes. I took a glitter gel pen and colored in a few of the centers and stamped a simple sentiment. I wasn't sure how that would turn out (stamping over the embossed texture), but it worked perfectly. I added a stray snowflake button and a loose gold emBELLishment someone had sent me in a little fun Christmas grab bag. Even the ribbon is from my stray ribbon container....a trimmed leftover from making a bow in the past!
Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (tags)
Winnie & Walter - Comfort + Joy stamp set
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Darice - Snowflakes embossing folder
Simple embellishments and bit of scrap ribbon from my stash
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my tag! Who knows...you might see another one of these showing up later this month. :)

This is beautiful Janis. I am a tag lover and I make them throughout the year for all occasions. I make most of my Christmas tags at the beginning of the New Year for the following Christmas because everything is still out and I have tons of ideas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful tag.
Wonderful tag and great way to use up scraps.
ReplyDeleteThere will be no stopping you now. I can the embossing the tag looks great. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeletePerfect way to use those scraps and stray ribbons! Thanks for linking up to The House That Stamps Built!
ReplyDeleteI think you should make tags more often! This one is gorgeous!! I often find scraps are perfect for tags, too, but I rarely make tags either! But I have discovered that tags can be used ON cards, too. Just a thought. Thanks for playing with The House That Stamps Built.
ReplyDeleteHi Janis! How lovely to see you in the Snippets Playground - and I do love your double tag! Perfect way to use up snippets, as Heather says, tags are great to add to card front if you need to deplete your little mountain thenperhaps that would be a good idea.
ReplyDeleteCountdown to your Birthday I see - yay!
Hugs
Di xx
Your tag is wonderful. Thank you so much for participating this week at the Mod Squad Challenge
ReplyDeleteOooh, really love this one, Janis! How fun to stamp on the embossed paper. And once again you have me laughing, I was just telling someone how I always used to cut out the middles of my mats when I made scrapbook pages. Always thought I was the only one to do that, but hated to see all that good paper go to waste.
ReplyDeleteWinters are about to go, so greeting to the springs.

ReplyDeleteLovely tag. Thanks for playing with as at Pile it On. I'm sorry for late commenting, but I had a really hectic couple of weeks. Hope to see your project again on our next challenge comming up. Keti (DT)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little tag, and even better that you used up bits and bobs from your stash. I like the double-layered tag and the dry embossed snowflakes. Isn't it funny how we card makers will be surrounded by stacks of paper, but we hate to "waste" any bits that will be covered up? Is that why we seem to have even more scraps every time we work on a project? I'm the same way, only I usually cut smaller and smaller rectangular or square mats, until I'm down to a teeny piece that just finally gives up with a whimper, eek!
