 Also, please check out my
2018 Cat Lovers Hop Guidelines and FAQs

Hi, Friends.....

It is Day 5 and have you seen how many projects are linked up???  I need to really get busy polishing up my last posts so I can hop around and visit everyone, too!!!  :)  BONUS:  Another blogger is having a lovely GIVEAWAY on this hop!  You won't want to miss the chance at the fabulous prize Pink Crafty Mama is offering!!

Did you know that we have 3 generations from one family participating in the hop this year?  Karen Ladd sent me a note a couple of weeks ago asking if her young granddaughters (who love to craft!) could join in the hop.  Of course the answer was YES!!!  This hop is open to all ages.  You might have seen the adorable projects by 8 yr old Remi and 4 yr old Blair, already, but if not....be sure to check them out on the Flickr page belonging to their mommy (who happens to be Karen's daughter!).  Give a big welcome and pat on the back to these budding young artists!!  They already are better at drawing and coloring than I am!!!  :)

Let's get right on to the festivities for today!

The featured sponsors for Day 5 are: Winnie & Walter, Sweet 'n Sassy, MHK Designs, Gerda Steiner Designs, Clearly Besotted, and, as always, for our Daily Game, Ike's Art.

Winnie & Walter
I am thrilled to introduce Winnie & Walter as a new sponsor to our Cat Lovers HopI have been a fan of theirs for several years now, after getting lured in by Shay's fabulous challenges over at the blog!!!  lol...
(Incidentally, four of us cat hoppers happen to have just won in Shay's ginormous WCMD challenges...including Gail (ionabunny) who snagged the Grand Prize.....a $100 Gift Voucher to their online store!!! Congratulations, Gail!!)

BONUS:  Shay has two super-fun challenges going on right now:  Color Challenge (thru Nov.9)   Rerun Challenge (thru Nov.1)  They are not cat-related, but if you enter using a cat then you can use it for this hop, too!   Click on those links to get all the deets.  She does require at least one W&W product to be used on the entry, but she offers printable FREEBIES which count!!

For quite some time Shay didn't have any cat stamp sets in her store, although a few sets did have a kitty included with other animals.  Last year, too late for the 2017 Cat Lovers Hop, she introduced a must-have stamp set for cat lovers:  Purrfect with Evelin T Designs.  LOVE!!!  One lucky winner will receive this fur-abulous prize!!!

I happen to own this set....are you surprised?  lol...  So I made a sample card for today's hop.....it's even a One-Layer Card!!  Aren't those kittens in the teacup just adorable???  LOVE!!!

This will fit with the
Color Challenge that I mentioned above!  ❤

BONUS:  Ike's Show us Your Pussies - Cats Only Challenge theme this month is Furrything Goes + MEOW-loween.  So if you make a kitty creation for the Cat Hop (Halloween or not), you can also link it up over there!!  Yay!!

Ike has graciously designed a new seasonal set of digital images for prizes for our Daily Games.  I will randomly choose 4 winners from all the entries in the Daily Games to win one of these fab images.  (NOTE:  You must link up your name in the linky tool at the bottom of each post to be in the drawing for the digi prizes.)  I will be featuring each of the images individually on the next four days of the hop.

Today I am featuring the last of the four images included in this set: "Cat-ucopia".  I love making Thanksgiving cards because of the rich colors.  I had a lot of fun coloring and choosing patterned papers for this card.

NOTE:  PLEASE PLAY THE DAILY GAME EVEN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE IN THE DRAWINGS FOR THE DIGI PRIZES.

Not all of you use digis and have indicated that to me when you SIGNED IN.  I hope you will still participate in the Daily Game.  You do NOT have to participate in the digi giveaway to answer the Daily Game question that lets us all get to know each other better.  If you want to be in the digi prize drawing, link up your name each day that you participate.

DAY 5 Game:  What is the strangest thing your cat has fished out of the trash or brought home to you?

I will start...and I hope this doesn't offend anyone's sensibilities!  But, beware.....

We used to have a kitty named Tiger Lily who was quite a cat.  One time we heard her from the other room growling and thumping around.  What in the world could she have????  Well, "Big Game Hunter" Tiger Lily had somehow discovered a used feminine product in the trash and fished the thing out.  She was leaping around with it and carrying it in her mouth like a prey item, with growls and snarls!!!!  Oh, my!  My daughter and I were unspeakably mortified and laughing hysterically as we grabbed her and extracted her prize!!!  BAD CAT!!!  lol...

This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1.  Leave a comment telling us something weird your cat has found.  I love reading crazy stories about everyone's cats!!!
2.  After you finish your comment:  if you want to be in the drawing for the prize, fill out your (own) name in the link up below.  This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed!  You don't even need a blog!!!  This is for everyone!!!

NOTE: The Daily Game link ups will be open the entire duration of the Hop, including the extra day for comments. Entries need to be in by 11:59 pm Pacific, Sunday Oct. 28, 2018 to be eligible for the daily prize. So you have more than just today to comment and link up. I realize that not everyone has access to a printer or likes to use digis, so I am still keeping the link up gadget to make sure the digi prizes go to winners who can use them. But I am hoping EVERYONE will participate in answering the questions whether they are putting their name in for the prize or not.

Okay, now it is your turn!!

REMEMBER: Link your cat-themed projects over on the Main Hop Page. (Please use #CatLoversHop2018 on social media!!) This link-up below is just to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have commented with your Kitty Roll Call. Thanks!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your fabulous participation this year.  I appreciate each of you taking time out of your busy schedule to be a part of the 2018 Cat Lovers Hop!!  You are the best!!

🖤
Janis

  1. One of the cats often went to the neighbour's house because they too have cats and one day she came home with a little Chinese puppet on her mouth. My sister tried taking it away but she snarled. It was like her play thing, LOL!

  2. My husband is a big Houston Astros fan, and he has a little lego set of his three favorite players displayed on the top shelf of his office, with tiny little bats, gloves, and mitts. Almost every night, our cat Max slips in when we are asleep and leaves the tiny bat, which is about an inch long, somewhere in our bed. Every morning I find a little bat and place it back on the Houston lego display. I can't figure out what his fascination with that little bat is!

  3. Blackie was different, he never did! Just didn't have the gumption! Love your card Janis, I've been visiting the sponsors and wow, (had to order of one of them!! Not kitty stuff though!) lots of loverly stuff! And the video yesterday of the kitten and his food - just hilarious! I found myself watching that a few times - just to laugh more!

  4. Janis! I had to do a double take when you said your W&W card was a single layer. Really! I blew it up to make sure as I was certain you had fussy cut the kitties and a piece of yellow paper and layered them on... that's great coloring work!!!
How serendipitous that my post today was a Clearly Besotted Card. : )
Miss Priss (short for Prissy and she was a delicate, prissy little thing) brought us a Wolf Spider once. We were thankful it was dead and she was uninjured! Good kitty, now stay away from those nasty things!

  5. I love that card, Janis! I'm really hoping I win that set from Ike's. :-D
I think perhaps the weirdest thing ever brought to me was a lizard tail. Not the whole lizard, just the tail. Sisyphus, the feline who brought it to me, was one of the sweetest cats who ever chose to share her life with us. She was known for her great "hunting" skills and spent the early fall days chasing down and capturing giant sycamore leaves as they drifted to the ground! She would drag them in and lay them at my feet, a gift for the 'mama cat' of the clan. lol In truth, she rarely hunted anything other than the leaves which is one of the reasons the lizard tail was such a surprise.

  6. Oh my! That's quite a story, Janis, and there's no way I can top that! My cats enjoy empty toilet paper rolls, that's probably the strangest thing they have fished out of the garbage can. Honeydew used to play with the rubber doorstop - he would carry it around in his mouth, meowing loudly, and acting like he had conquered it. It was hilarious to see - and hear! Another awesome line-up of sponsors today - I love your gorgeous cards! I still haven't used my W&W stamps - your card is so cool!

  7. I had no idea that shartl and karen ladd were related! I'm looking forward to visiting all the entries and seeing the cute cards by the young crafters!

  8. Marco, my grandma's cat was a good boy and the "strangest" thing he brought home was a mouse. I remember I was terrified because it was so big!

  9. Indie once brought a baby rabbit home - he carried it carefully, jumping over the six foot gate with it in his mouth, and deposited it on the living room rug. The rabbit was alive and seemingly uninjured, but sadly it didn't survive. Casey is a leaf chaser and a bug watcher!! The worst he's managed is a tiny mouse.

  10. We had a kitty, Kikko, who loved the plastic tear strips off of the gallon milk jugs. She started out by getting them out of the trash. Then we started giving them to her. She had quite a collection of them! At night we had to put them away in a drawer or she'd wake us up playing with them.

  11. Our cats were all indoor cats and never went into the garbage. But our 1 cat Perky learned how to open the Captain's drawers under our bed and would pull out all of my lingerie and distribute it around the Condo and then climb in the drawer. My friend took care of our cats and when she walked into the Condo the first day that we were away, she thought someone had broken in. She put all of the lingerie away and each day that she came back, she would see it all over the place again! She soon figured out that it was indeed our cat Perky doing it! LOL! Patience helped too! Perky also, climbed up onto our Fridge to get to the cupboard above the stove and then he would knock down all of the cat treats to Patience who would happily eat them all as they fell down.

  12. I can not remember anything special: only mice, mole...

  13. Gorgeous projects with the fabulous sponsor's images, Janis! I too, am totally amazed by the card done with the Winnie and Walter set. WOW! Funny how I was thinking about the worst things the cat could pull from the trash and about died when I heard your story. EIYIYI! Besides the various critter (both alive and dead) and the lingerie Goliath strews around when we're gone, he also carries a little stuffed bear in his mouth, meowing all the while when he's not sure if we're home, or where we are. He has started to become quite interest in the trash, too, especially after I've tossed a tuna pouch, so we do need to keep that closed. Jezebel occasionally brings in a critter (to play with only) but when she can't find one of those, she brings in large leaves, meowing like she caught something. xxD

  15. Oh dear, that will be hard to top but I will try. Squirtles is a strange dude for sure. I have gotten toy mice in the garbage disposal. I ended up ordering a huge lot of them from Ali Express and always check the garbage disposal before I do dishes now.

Well we were traveling to the grand canyon earlier this year and made a stop in Albuquerque New Mexico and they were having their gay pride festival and we decided to go and got lots of free junk to bring home. My favorite is a squishy sperm(you know, like a stress ball). It is a good sized squishy. The cat loves it because it rolls around so erratically. Ok, so I usually don't turn on the light in the bathroom when going and it is pretty dark in there, but this time I had the feeling that I should turn on the light and what did I see? A squishy sperm floating in the toilet. Needless to say, I now keep the lid down when not in use. He also loves to watch water going down the drain, helping with dishes and of course watching the toilet flushing.

  16. My kitties are indoors only so they don't bring too many unknown things to me. However, our youngest cat is a great hunter and has caught a few mice in the basement.I can tell you one of the funny things our cat Goose does with the water fountain we have for them. He lays down with his head in shoulders in the water bowl part and tries to reach around the flow of water to grab it. He just can't figure out why he can't get to it from behind.

  17. Well, our cat Bubby was the big hunter in our kitty crew and he managed to corral two different baby rabbits in one week. Fortunately, he just batted a them and meowed loudly until I went out in the backyard to see what was going on. Both bunnies were bottle fed by me, and lived a long and happy (I am assuming, ha) life with us! My Bailey boy never brought anything home but he used to steal bread off the counter at night. He would open the bread wrapper and steal just one slice of bread, which he left on the kitchen floor with bites taken out of it. He then started getting into the trash, in the cabinet under the sink and would pull out wrappers etc. I discovered him doing it one late night and was amazed. He stood on his hind legs and hooked his front paws over the top of the cabinet door. Then carefully backed up, pulling the cabinet door open. Ahhh, Bailey...he was my little cat burglar!

  18. Ahahhah Im laughing so hard at this cat meme!
I think I will not buy new couch ever! with 5 catss it would not survive!
My cats dont go to trash.Coffee do like to sleep in my paper trash in craftroom but she dont pull anything out.
But our Blacky once bring home mole! I was sad, mole was so cute.
I dont know why he bring us mole..
    crazy cat.
    hugs

  19. Bwahahahaha - how embarrassing :-D
One of mine bought in a warm cooked fish that they must have stolen from someones BBQ, but other than lizards/snakes etc I've never had anything extremely unusual :-)
