Hi, Friends......

I am here today with a rustic Christmas card for the wonderful Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge:

I also am linking this up to Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge where she asks us to use some Never Before Used Schtuff that we have in our stash. This time my NBUS item is a recent acquisition...a JOY die from Winnie & Walter. LOVE!!!

I fussy cut the poinsettias and added a second layer over the top by cutting an additional "inside"  for more fullness. (That's a TON of scissors-work for someone like me whose crafting tends more toward accidental amputations of unsuspecting flower petals and cute critter limbs rather than artistic fussy cutting!!) I stamped the solid leaves with a contrasting vein and then outlined them with a distress marker before fussy cutting, so they wouldn't get lost against the background. I wasn't sure if the poinsettia leaves would look too weird (like, ummmm...DEAD!) if I stayed with the color combo and didn't use green. But I think they look okay in the DI Antique Linen. I went over all the flowers and leaves with Wink of Stella for some holiday sparkle.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Joy die
Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Hollie's Festive Florals stamp set
Versafine ink in Satin Red and Vintage Sepia
Distress Marker in Vintage Photo
Distress Ink in Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Gathered Twigs, and Walnut Stain
The Paper Studio - Woodgrain embossing folder
Zig - Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen
Adhesive rhinestones from my stash in a tan color
DCWV Glitter cardstock
Core'dinations heavy duty white cardstock for dry embossed background

Hope you enjoyed seeing my card. This is the last day (actually this is a bonus day, but who's counting?  lol...) for Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge and there are just two more days for the W&W Color Combo Challenge, so hurry if you want to join in!! See you there!!  Thank you so much for stopping by.

Hi, Friends.......

I got super-inspired by the wonderful Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge. The deadline is still several days away and I had two more ideas I wanted to do with these fabulous colors!

One of my ideas was for a sunset night sky. I sponged distress inks over kraft and splattered with watered down gesso. I colored my sweet critters with Prismacolor pencils and blended with thinner. I am totally IN LOVE with how this turned out!!!

I even got super-brave and drew in some grass on the hillsides with my Pigma .005 black marker!!!  EEK....that was scary....I was so afraid I would mess up the entire background!  I like how it looks with the wisps of grass, though.  Whew....

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (pierced rectangle panel)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (little hearts)
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs die set
Versafine ink in Vintage Sepia
Clear embossing powder
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Winsor & Newton - Sansodor Thinner
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set (sentiment)
Distress Ink in Candied Apple, Fired Brick, Frayed Burlap, Ground Espresso, and Black Soot
Daler-Rowney - Simply Acrylic White Gesso
Pigma Micron Black Pens set of 8

Hope you enjoyed seeing my sunset sky card. There's still time to join in the Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge so I hope to see you there!

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with a masculine card to share. I got super-inspired by the wonderful Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge:

I also am linking this up to Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge where she asks us to use some Never Before Used Schtuff that we have in our stash.

I pulled out my long-hoarded NBUS Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ephemera Pack - Expedition and started putting together a collage card. Fun!

Hey, you guys...I even used a STENCIL!!! Yay!!

I like the funky look of mixing modern sentiment fonts with the vintage ephemera.  These proper gentlemen with the speech balloon containing an informal light-hearted font makes me chuckle and apparently cracks them up, too!  More on that in a moment.  :)

I had (what I thought was) a great idea.....(Oh, no! Janis is getting experimental again!!!)...I can make the photos of the men stand out and look time-worn by coating the piece with Crackle Accents. Well, in retrospect, I prob should have just used Glossy Accents or nothing at all. I love the crackly appearance, but it is unpredictable and this piece was pretty thin so it didn't work all that great. It is okay and I obviously still used it, but I am not just loving it. If you want to see a project I made where the Crackly Accents turned out perfect, click HERE (if you dare...)!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings
Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts die set
Versafine Ink - Onyx Black
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ephemera Pack - Expedition
Inkssentials - Crackle Accents (was Ranger brand)
Twine from my stash

Hope you enjoyed my collaged ephemera card. Thank you always for your visits and comments. You make my day!!!

Hi, Friends....

I'm here with a sweet card I made as a last-minute entry for the Winnie & Walter Rerun #23 Challenge - Tree for all Seasons. I don't have the rerun set, so I drew inspiration from a couple of the fabulous cards featured on that post: the colors from Heather's gorgeous card and the springy feel to one of Kelly's cards. Aren't they beautiful!!!

I also am linking this up to Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge where she asks us to use some Never Before Used Schtuff that we have in our stash. I ordered these wee pastel buttons a few months ago not having any idea how verrrrrrrrrrry tiny they are (perhaps "micro-mini" in the product description should have given me a clue!!! lol....)....so there they sat NBUS-ing in my stash. Turns out that they are the perfect size for "blossoms" in my tree today!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Versafine Ink - Smokey Gray
Ranger - TH Distress Markers
Dress It Up Micro-Mini Button Mix - Innocence
Ranger - Multi Medium Matte
Sheet from my stack of "Leftover Easter Egg Dye Backgrounds" on mixed media paper
Hope you enjoyed a little break from autumn colors to take a peek at what our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are getting to see right now! Thank you so much for stopping by!!!

Hi, Friends......

First some kitty news......

The little "Hissy Fit Committee" meme above certainly does not apply to the confident and intrepid little waif we rescued last night. We were driving home in the pitch darkness and rain (Yay...we finally broke our 100-year record for number of consecutive dry days!!) on a steep mountain road far from any houses when this little creature darted across the road! At first I thought it was a weasel, already in winter whites, but as we got closer we realized it was a kitten. Oh, my....we had to stop, of course. The poor thing was wet, cold, hungry and dehydrated. He broke into the hugest purr as soon as my son picked it up. Awwww... We brought him home and treated him for fleas (little guy was covered with them!) and fed him. I don't think he has stopped purring since!
Right now we just call him "Little Kitten"
The kitty obviously has been around people but I can't imagine someone abandoning a kitten this beautiful and good-natured!! It is equally perplexing how he could have wandered off from someone's house to be found where we picked him up. Overnight, the fleas all died and he cleaned up his long silky coat and is quite the handsomest little cat. We estimate he is 10-12 weeks old and is one of the absolute nicest kittens we've had for a very, very long time. He is litterbox trained and doesn't tease the big kitties.
Since he has white ears (and white everything else except for a couple little gray dots between his ears!) we can't keep him. We have so many intensely sunny days at our elevation and not a lot of shade on our property that white ears get badly sunburned. Even though we apply sunscreen, the kitties can develop skin cancer. I never want to go through that with one of my kitties again!! :( :( :( So I draw the line....NO WHITE EARS!! My vet hubby who works out of state will take him to work sometime soon and will have no trouble finding a home for this beautiful, affectionate little kitty!! In the meantime, we will consider ourselves blessed to be fostering him.  We will love him and take care of him so he will be the perfect companion for someone who perhaps has recently lost a kitty.

On to my card...........

Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is Butterfly/ies + S is for Silhouette &/or Use the Color Indigo. I was stumped at first but then I remembered some fabulous Wow! Resist Paper that is sadly discontinued now. I had been hoarding it, but this was the time to pull out the sheet with butterfly silhouettes. Oh, yes!! This paper comes embossed already, so all you have to do is apply ink to the paper to make the designs show up. I love the look of emboss resist, so this product is right up my alley! CropStop sent it to me as part of a prize some months ago. (THANKS, CS!!)

I also am entering this card in the Winnie & Walter Rerun #23 Challenge - Tree for all Seasons. I don't have the rerun set, so I drew inspiration from one of the fabulous cards featured on that post: Vanessa's gorgeous blue card. Oh, my....so beautiful!!!

I used a number of different blue Distress Inks smooshed on an acrylic block and misted with water to brush onto my background to give some pretty variation. LOVE the crisp blues with the white. Indigo must be in there some place!!! :)
Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - The Big, the Bold and Party Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set
Versafine ink - Majestic Blue
Wow! Resist paper (sadly discontinued)
Distress Inks - Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, and Stormy Sky
Hope you liked meeting our new little foster kitty and enjoyed seeing my card. Thank you so much for stopping by!!

Be sure to check out my two GIVEAWAYS currently going on...HERE and HERE.  :)  And don't forget to be getting ready for the Cat Lovers Hop, October 23-28, 2017.  Purr.
