I Will Bless the Lord....

Hi, Friends......

Yes, I am still around.....just haven't been blogging much. But I *have* been playing with purple patterned paper lately. (Say that 5 times fast!!!)  For spring, I love yellow paired with purple.  It reminds me of crocuses....some of my favorite flowers.

I made a pair of spring cards with the current Wednesday Sketch from MFT.

I didn't want to cover up the pretty background with this STAMPlorations scripture, so I stamped and heat embossed it on vellum.

A long time ago, a friend gave me eight or so decorative envelopes that are somewhat larger than the usual A2 size. I kept thinking I should make some cards with the appropriate dimensions to use these envelopes.

Since I was in a purple mood, I cut papers the right size and made cards that coordinate with them. I used ivory embossing powder on this one. Which do you like better?

Supplies used include:
STAMPlorations - Bless the Lord - Typografia in Faith
Versamark Ink
Embossing powder from stash - ivory and yellow sparkle
DCWV scraps
Vellum
Prima flowers
Petaloo flowers
Ribbon, Brads, and Adhesive Pearls from stash

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Hope you are staying well. We are getting a lot of rain here, so my garden is awfully wet. How is weather where you are?

🖤

Thankful for You, Mom

Hi, Friends.....

Here's a sweet card I made for my dear MIL for Mother's Day. She doesn't look at my blog, so I am okay posting it a few days early! :)

Somewhere along the line...maybe thrift store...maybe from some inherited craft supplies...who knows???.... I came to own a very pretty package of floral coasters. I LOVE them!! They are perfect for pairing with a doily and sentiment for a quick but charming card. There are four different floral styles and I let hubby choose which one to put a Happy Mother's Day greeting inside for his mom's special day. He chose this pretty purple one.

I love purple and use it a lot on my cards.  I often pair it with green or yellow, but this time I tried gray to coordinate with this pretty coaster.  I love how it gives a very serene look to a color that often is quite dramatic.

Supplies used include:
Unity "Thankful for You" stamp from grab bag - still trying to track down which set it came from.
Versafine ink in Smokey Gray
Salvaged white cardstock from a mailing advertisement
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangles die set
Floral Coaster from stash
White Doily from my stash
Background panel from K&Co.
Core'dinations/Darice cardstock for card base

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope all you ladies out there know how vital and important you are...whether you are technicaly a Mother or not. All women play a crucial role as examples and mentors to the young ladies of today. Thank you for shaping the world of tomorrow.

Leafy Wreath Aperture Card

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a pretty card with a special feature that is fun and easy to do...but adds a little something extra to your card. It's an Aperture style that I learned over at Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge back when she was on the Letter A in her challenge themes.
(She's currently on the Letter X...so this has been awhile!)

In case you didn't know, Mrs. A's fortnightly challenges feature, along with selected colors and themes, an optional fancy fold element.....with tutorials to help us accomplish them. I rarely attempt them, but I loved this aperture style card back when she introduced that challenge. You can see the card I made at that time HERE. I have been wanting ever since to make another. So here's the one I made this time.

Here it is propped open a bit......

I love how this style is ideal for using stickers that have sentiments printed on them. The pretty sticker and words still show when you open the card.

Here's my card fully open....

Supplies used include:
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Sticker from stash
Sizzix - Circles, Scallop die set
Verve - Sprightly Sprigs die set (retired)
Scraps from stash for leaves, scalloped wreath base, and sentiment panel/mat
DCWV patterned papers and cardstock
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Pearls
Cardz-TV - Favorite Phrases stamp set

Hope you enjoyed seeing my card. A big thank you to Mrs. A for introducing me to this style. Have a great day!!

Tiny Miracles with Vintage Vibe

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with a pretty card I made with a wonderful Unity stamp set from the lovely Lori Kobular (THANKS, Lori!!!)

I followed the fun sketch from the current Cards und More Shop Challenge.

I left the butterfly image uncolored for a vintage sepia tone photo look. LOVE!!! Used lots of scraps for this card, including the gold shimmer cardstock mats, the striped piece, and the bits of gold foil doily which I folded around the corners.

Supplies used include:
Unity - New Fluttering Miracles stamp set
Versafine ink in Vintage Sepia
Sizzix - Circles, Scallop die set
DCWV scraps
Prima - Gold Doilies
Distress Ink in Walnut Stain for panel edges

Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Hope you are staying healthy and safe.

An Unusual Request.....

Hi, Friends......

What's the most unusual request you've ever had for a card? I got an order the other day for a funny one.....a chicken-themed sympathy card. A friend at church recently lost a bunch of her chickens to night-time raids by skunks. 🐔🐔🐔😞😠😢 Many of us up here in our tiny community have chickens and so we all can relate to the anguish of a predator attack. Another friend asked me to make a card expressing condolences for losing so many of her flock.  This sounded like fun!

I don't have one of those cute skunk stamp sets with a "That stinks" sentiment.  So I used a skunk from an adorable NBUS set my crafty pal Karen Ladd gave me (THANKS, Karen!!) and made a simple but fun card with a computer-generated sentiment. I colored the images with my Prismacolors.

Inside I used some chicken ephemera pieces from the Bella Blvd Barn Yard collection. I think their big eyes look a little bit worried, don't you?

Supplies used include:
Hero Arts - Woodland Creatures stamp set
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Unity - "So sorry for your loss" from Beautiful Life, Blessed Memories (Feb. 2015 Sentiment Kit)
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangles die set
Bella Blvd - Barn Yard Paper Pieces (retired)
Prismacolor Colored Pencils

I hope this card brings a smile to the face of our friend who lost so many chickens. (By the way, they have killed 4 skunks....so far!)  Hope you enjoyed the card, too. Thank you so much for stopping by today!!

Are you able to enjoy some spring weather where you live?  I have hummingbirds draining my nectar feeders and summer birds gorging on the seed feeders. So fun and interesting to watch them! Do you have any birdfeeders up?

Wishing You a Joyful Christmas - April Rudolph Days

Hi, Friends......

Quick post here to get my April Rudolph Days card entered over at Scrappy Mo's. I am getting into the spirit of "using what I already have" and making tons of cards with old stash. It's so fun! I actually used up a small pack of embellishments on some of my other cards....lol... Yay!!

For this card I used some fun stickers that have been in my Christmas box for ages and an old Winnie & Walter printable freebie tag (so sad that company closed down). I added texture with a black burlap piece and a snowflake brad. Super simple design, but I like how it turned out.

Supplies used include:
Basic Grey - Eskimo Kisses Epoxy Stickers
Recollections Stickers from stash
Winnie & Walter printable tag from Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1 - Holiday Mint (retired)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (retired)
DCWV patterned paper and burlap paper
Creative Impressions - Pewter Snowflake Brads - retired

Thank you for stopping by today! I appreciate your time and kind comments. Hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.

Easter Blessings

Hi, Friends.....

Sorry for the long silences between blog posts. A close relative asked me if I had given up on making cards. I guess maybe I didn't get a Valentine or Easter card sent to her....and so she thought I had quit cardmaking altogether!! Whaaaa---aaat????? HORRORS!! What would I do with all these zillions of supplies in my craftroom if I quit????? lol...
(Incidentally, I have given my hubby and son instructions on what to do with it all if I suddenly drop dead. :o Of course, whether or not they will remember is a different question!! lol...)

Well, I have NOT stopped making cards, but I have been rather negligent at getting things blogged. Before April gets away from me completely, I thought I better blog this Easter card I made from a lovely new die I won recently from Kat Scrappiness. (THANKS, Kat!!!)

I stenciled over a previously made leftover Easter egg dye background. I layered the diecut for a gentle shadow effect. I used scraps for the sentiment panel and the diecut shadow.

Supplies used include:
Kat Scrappiness - Faberge Egg with Cross die
Easter Blessings sentiment from dollar rack
Versamark ink
WOW! Embossing Powder - Opaque Bright White Regular
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Canson - Mixed Media Paper
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings (retired)
Distress inks
DCWV and Core'dinations scraps

That's all for right now. I will be back later with a Rudolph Days card. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you liked my card.
