DAY 5: 2021 CAT LOVERS HOP

I totally understand the puzzlement of this little kitten.  I have been experiencing the rapid disappearance of my just-typed text for these blog posts...along with stubbornly persistent font types, colors, sizes, and other formatting strangeness-es.  No matter what I do to cancel out formatting I still end up with some of my post in different colors, etc!!  Ha.  I should have WARNING: TECH ILLITERATE on my blog!!  Thanks for your patience as you wade through these lengthy mix and match posts!!!   ❤

Note: I doubt this really happened, but it is hilarious!!!  :)

DAY 5 GAME: In a Room Full of "Identical" Cats, How Would You Identify Yours?

Isn't this a great topic that our Helpful Hopper, Christi, came up with?  We all know there is not really any such thing as two completely identical cats, so tell us what makes your kitty unique

I'll go first.......
We have 3 solid black short-haired kitties (plus Mistopheles, our 2021 Hop Badge Kitty who is long-haired and solid black).  They are mostly easy to tell apart by size and because they have completely different body language.  Othello is humongous...over 20 lb...so we would rarely confuse him with the smaller black lady cats:  Jetta and Andromeda.

Jetta is 18 and her coat is well-flecked with white.  She is hard of hearing and also doesn't see well, so she is easily startled and often stares wide-eyed at us as if she is trying to figure out who we are and if she should run under the bed.

Andromeda is half Jetta's age but looks quite similar except with fewer white flecks in her coat.  She is an outside kitty who sneaks inside occasionally and sometimes escapes our notice because we think she is Jetta.  It is not uncommon to hear somebody say..."Andromeda?  How long have you been inside???"  lol...  She can't resist coming out of hiding and rubbing against our legs and then we discover her!

This is how to play the Daily Game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1.  Make sure you have SIGNED IN HERE to be eligible for prizes.
2. Leave a comment with your Unique Kitty Characteristics entry.  I am really looking forward to reading these!
3. After you finish your comment: if you want to be in the drawing for the prize, fill out your (own) name in the link up below. This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed! You don't even need a blog!!!  This is for everyone!!!
NOTE: The Daily Game link ups will be open the entire duration of the Hop, including the extra days for comments. Entries need to be in by 11:59 pm Pacific, Wednesday Nov. 3, 2021 to be eligible for the daily prize. So you have more than just today to comment and link up. I realize that not everyone has access to a printer or likes to use digis, so I am still keeping the link up gadget to make sure the digi prizes go to winners who can use them. But I am hoping EVERYONE will participate in answering the questions whether they are putting their name in for the prize or not.

Okay, now it is your turn!!

REMEMBER: Link your cat-themed projects over on the Main Hop Page. (Please use #2021CatLoversHop on social media!!) This link-up below is just to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have commented with your Kitty entry for today. Thanks!!!

Wow...only one more Cat Hop Day after today!!!  I can't believe how this week has flown by.  I am soooooooo behind on commenting, but I WILL visit each of you!  If you don't have your 5 entries for the week linked up yet, be sure to do that because tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 30) is the LAST day to link them up!!

🖤

  1. I've got 3 Tuxedos that are " Hangers On " that I haven't named that are very hard to differentiate between except one of them is really noisy. The main 2 are my Calico girls who are sister and the only way to tell is that Meuwly has a white tip on her tail :-)

  2. Oh WOW, another beautiful post, Janis! The song by Styx "Don't Let it End" has been playing in my head all week and got louder today. I've had such a good time! Thank you to another group of awesome sponsors - I will be visiting each one. I've already been to The Cat's Pajamas - that's a fabulous freebie - I have the clear stamp and love it! Karen and Alex did such a beautiful job with their cards! Alex's colouring of the black cat is AMAZING! You have some talented guest designers!

As for the question, I think I would know Honeydew if I called his name because he would come to me, probably hoping for a treat. His treat is Laxatone (I'm sure you know what that is; he loves it so much and would eat it all day long if he could). Okay, still singing "Don't Let it End."

    1. Oh I just realized I was supposed to mention unique kitty characteristics. Okay, I know! Honeydew has dark spots in his eyes. He's had them for many years, and the vet said nothing to worry about. But I could definitely identify Honeydew with his unique eye spots.

  3. I can't believe the hop is almost over! I could make kitty cards every day and never get enough. My all black cat, Maverick, is starting to get little white chest hairs and he's kind of bald around his ears. He's also the most talkative cat I've ever owned. Our Iceman, is a medium haired white with brown spots cat. You've seen them everywhere on the internet with heart shaped spots etc. He just spotted and his whole tail is brown. He also has terrible skin allergies and a teeny little meow. Thanks again for hosting this wonderful event and to all your helpers a big THANK YOU!

  4. We have a total of six black cats - three short hair and two long hair inside, and one long hair outside (one of two kitties that we acquired just this week, lol). Molly and her twin sons, Jack and Walter, are the three short hair inside cats. Molly is smaller than Jack and Walter, and Walter has droopy eyes (like Walter Mathau in Grump Old Men) so that's how we tell him apart from his twin brother, Jack! ;)

  5. I have a cat and a kitten, they are completely different. However, if I came in and there were the same kittens with the same names as my Saszka, mine would definitely stick out his tongue, this is how he reacts when there is another cat nearby. But when it comes to the cat, I wouldn't have to get to know my Faksik, because he would be right next to me and rubbing between my legs. She always does that when she is awake, she is still with me.

  6. I do not have any black kitties but I do have a tuxie and another short hair kitty. So, I imagine that if I had two (or more) black kitties, I would be able to tell them apart by little physical differences but mainly by their unique behaviours. Each kitty has their own unique personalities. I love kitties so much!

  7. Such a cute poem and i love that cat on Karen's card! Alex card is just beautiful too!
    Thanks to all great sponsors!

  8. Hmm this is a tough one. My guy would be identified by behavior rather than markings. He is a mellow old fellow who likes to ride on my shoulder to the treat drawer.

  9. In a room full of identical kitties, mine would be the one who licks your face and wants to be held like a baby. Our cat, Moka, is the sweetest cat I’ve ever had. She would also be cowering in the corner because she’s the classic scaredy cat.

  10. Awesome cards from Karen and Alex, and another fun game idea thanks to Christi!
I would know my kitty in a room full of identical kitties by her personality!

  11. If I had a duplicate Queenie, it would be easy to tell her apart because if a strange person came into the room, she'd be the one to dash off and hide! She is terribly afraid of anyone she doesn't know, and even with me (her one tolerated human), she refuses to be touched, picked up, or cuddled. Yet, she follows me from room to room, sleeps next to me every night, and talks to me in her tiny, squeaky, voice. After 3 years of sharing her life with me, she has just begun a rather new behavior. When I'm at the computer desk, she jumps on the table next to it which holds the printer, watches whatever I'm doing for a few minutes, then crawls onto my shoulder and drapes her head down on my chest. She's done this half a dozen times in the last couple of weeks, and I'm encouraging the behavior because it's the closest she's ever come to jumping into my lap. I talk to her and she purrs, I stroke her head with 1 finger, and scratch her ears, normally things she doesn't allow even when she gets up on the bed, then after just a few short minutes, she jumps down. Who knows why this started? She's always been very stand-offish when it come to being touched, unlike any other cat I've ever had.
Love the cards by Alex and Karen! I think you should make Guest Designers a tradition in the Hop, Janis, and I'd love to be invited back next year. I'd also love to work behind the scenes in any way that might help you. :-D

  13. Ohhhh I can tell MY cats - they all (except Lilly) come to me & they all know their names. I do sometimes get Bud & Em confused, but not often :) Lovely Guest Designer cards today :) I'm off to comment - I am SOOOOO far behind!

  14. Thank you so much for your kind words Janis! I am always happy to help out when needed, especially with the Cat Lovers Hop. It's really exciting to see so many new names this time around, which shows that the word is spreading. The variety of projects, and the beautiful work put in by all the participants makes me purr like a happy kitty! As for identical cats, all of mine were so different in color and personality that you could barely tell they were the same species!

  15. Catapult would be the one hissing at anyone who walks past! She has a serious catitude problem with EVERY thing being on her terms. Hissing is her favorite way to let you know when you have violated one of her terms. As for Velcro, he would be the one watching TV. His favorite show is PBS Bird Brain. Anytime we turn it on, he will wonder into the room and start watching it. He usually waits to join us in bed. When my hubby turns on the TV is on he jumps up, gets comfortable, and watches!

  16. So I'm Not only one who's text disappeares?
Oh yes so many participants! Love it!
Im happy that I can support this Purrr-fect blog hop!
    Thank you Alma!
    Karen Made so nice card.
    Love Ike's cats stamps !
    Alex made so adorable card.
Oh that's so funny I wish I can found another Coffee cat lol.
    Oh wow that's hard question.
I belive I would identify my Coffee the cat if I put water in my coffee machine she would hop on and start drink water from machine lol.

  17. I absolutely adore that 'When I'm Old' kitty poem, beautiful work Karen! Love Alex's card too, Ike's work is so artful! What a combination! The amount of sponsors too Janis - its just wow! I'm in awe truly!

Onto the game (big smile) as I love these!!

Weeeeell, that would be easy for my little black panther Minnie as she'd run straight to me, stretch up with her paws on me to be picked up like a toddler with the motion 'up'. I carry her around a lot of the day! She's so needy!

Yassi, weeeeell, she'll be racing all the others to the food, and cleaning up all the bowls! LOL, however, I'm sure she'd be in good company there, so next I'd have to resort her tuxie markings. Hahah!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love Kitty and Alex's cards! They are both so gorgeous! I hope I didn't forget to compliment anyone's cards; they have all been amazing! I am jealous of the talent, but in a nice way! :)

  19. Here is how I would know my cats.
Ralphie has a squeaky meow and intense staring eyes.
Miley likes to make a trill sound and sing.
P.J. snores and is very vocal.
Leo is a cuddler and loves forehead kisses.
Nipsy loves to nip your fingers and is clumsy.
Tux likes to talk a lot, and arches his back when you pet him.
    Thanks for the fun contest!

  20. My cat would be looking upon the rest with disdain!

  21. I don't know how to explain this exactly but Ichigo's eyes are different from any other cat I have had. They look like an anime figures eyes!! I would know them any where even if I can't describe them!

  22. I've had lots of
    outdoor cats and
    kittens. Love the
    tabby and tuxedo
    coats.

  23. I would identify them as my cats have different features like birth marks or defects, or different types of eyes even ears too. They have styles and manners that you can spot too. That's all I can remember as I do not have pets today.

  24. With a room full of identical orange tabbies I would recognize mine by his shortened tail due to an accident he had as a kitten. And probably by the stare that says "feed me" with one eye slightly squinted. (The look I get when I don't immediately pay attention to him when he wants something!)

My cat Fussy I probably would recognize as the one hiding somewhere. Honestly I would probably have to search the whole place down in order to find her! She is so shy!

    ReplyDelete
  25. In a room full of identical cats, I would be a nervous wreck trying to find mine. There are days when I'm not even sure which kids are mine as they get out of school, lol!

  26. How I would know our kitty in a room full of identical kitties? I would have her favourite treat :)))
