Hi, Friends.....

I have a Kitty Update to share with you today!!

If any of you saw my Kitty Roll Call Daily Game on Day 1, you might remember that I have several kitties that are missing.  My neighbor in the old house where we used to live (about 1/2 mile away) called me Tuesday morning and said he caught a black cat in a live trap he set for raccoons.  I had asked him a few weeks ago to be on the lookout for our Jetta.  I figured this black cat was probably part-time tom, Big Bad Black, but it was our dear sweet Jetta, instead!!  So thrilled.  We went over and brought her back home over here.  I hope she will stay.  While we were over there, I called and called hoping that Judith might be there, too, but didn't see her.

On our way back down the lane, I saw our Charlotte who lives at the next house down from our old house.  She never successfully made the move over here with us (though we tried innumerable times!) She is littermates with Jetta....and I think they were born in 2003 or 2004...so they are at least 13.  (Which is way too old to be traipsing across coyote land to the old house!) They are the younger sisters to my sweet Aliyah that I lost last year. (When Jetta heard us calling while still in the trap, she started yowling and yowling...it sounded so much like Aliyah that I knew before we got to her that it must be our Jet-Girl!) Although I knew Char-Baby had settled in at a home where she felt safe and loved (and didn't have so many cats!!), I wasn't sure she was still alive. I was sooooooo glad to see her!! She must have recognized our voices, as we were talking to Jet-Girl and calling for Judith, and so she had to come out to see what was going on. <3 <3 <3 Just had to share my good news with you all!!!
Day 3 already....time is really flying!  Are you enjoying the hop as much as I am??  As always, everyone is so enthusiastic about their cats!  It is a joy to read your comments and blog posts...and to see all the projects getting linked up.

Remember that each day I will be posting some fun things to see and do and win! A few of our sponsors will be in the spotlight each day.  I will feature the prizes they are offering and cards made with those products. My thanks to a few of my friends and sponsors who kindly provided photos for me to use. It took a lot of pressure off of me!!  (Hey...I am ALL about that, right? :) )

Just a reminder.....ALL PROJECTS LINK UP ON THE MAIN HOP PAGE  and I have my 2017 Cat Lovers Hop Guidelines and FAQs  in a handy tab just under my header at the top of each page.
(Please use #CatLoversHop2017 on social media.)

Kellie Stamps

And now from clear down in Aussie-land, where the days are getting longer instead of shorter, we have another new sponsor, Kellie Stamps.  Kellie told me that she hasn't really done much sponsoring before, but she recently released her fabulous Cat's Life stamp sets, so it seemed like a good time!  I agree.  :)

Do these sentiments look at all familiar???  I've been using these super-fun digital images Kellie shared with me on each of my Daily Game Ike's Art cards.  (See below for today's card.) I just love how this set plays well with others and looks great on cat cards of all kinds.

Two lucky winners will get to play with these spot-on feline phrases.  One will receive this set in digital format and the other will receive the clear stamp set. Purr-fectly wonderful.

A lucky participant in Today's Game will win one of the images from this newly designed digital prize from Ike's Art.  So much kitty fab-ness!!

One of the tails of the string is left long for kitty to play with.  :)

Ike's "Cat in the Box" digital image is the one you can enter to win by playing today's Daily Game.

I teamed up the image with one of the sentiments from the Cat's Life stamp set featured above in Kellie Stamps Sponsor Spotlight.

Day 3 Game:  Tell us about a close call one of your cats had, an incident that could have ended in tragedy, but turned out okay in the end.

I'll start.....
We used to have a dog named Belle who was an exuberant bundle of energy and liked nothing better than to run around and get the cats all upset. One time she chased one of our kitties, named Roza, under the car before we were ready to go somewhere. It had been a half hour or so, and it didn't occur to us that Roza was under the hood where all the belts and such pose a terrible hazard when the engine is started. We started the engine and heard an odd thump and bump. My heart stopped. In my mind, I put two and two together and expected to find a unspeakable horror under the hood. Surprisingly, there was some gray fur, but no blood and no Roza. Later on we found her. One of the car belts had stripped the fur off one side of her down to the skin, but she was unscathed otherwise. WHEW!! I still shudder to think what could have happened. Since then, we refer to that incident as "Roza's Close Shave".
This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:

1.  Leave a comment telling us about a close call for one of your kitties...or another kitty you know.
2.  After you finish your comment, fill out your name in the link up below.  This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed!  You don't even need a blog!!!  This is for everyone!!!  I will draw the random winner from the link up, so don't forget to do that part if you want to be eligible!

NEW THIS YEAR: The Daily Game link ups will be open the entire duration of the Hop, including the extra day for comments. Entries need to be in by 11:59 pm Pacific Daylight, Sunday Oct. 29, 2017 to be eligible for the daily prize. So you have more than just today to comment and link up. I realize that not everyone has access to a printer or likes to use digis, so I am still keeping the link up gadget to make sure the digi prizes go to winners who can use them. But I am hoping EVERYONE will participate in answering the questions whether they are putting their name in for the prize or not.

Okay, now it is your turn!!
REMEMBER: Link your cat-themed projects (please use #CatLoversHop2017 on social media) over on the Main Hop Page. This link-up below is just to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have made your Kitty Close Call comment. Thanks!!!

Thank you sooooooooooo much for being a part of the 2017 Cat Lovers Hop. I am having a great time and I hope you are, too!!!  Thank you for all your sweet and kind comments.  I love putting on this Hop!!

  1. Our kitty incident just happened the other day, so it's fresh on my mind! Our cat, Max, likes to get into everything, and he is CRAZY about carbs - potato chips, crackers, his favorite is croissant or doughnut! Anyway, my hubbie was eating chips and watching his team, the Houston Astros, beat the Yankees to get to the World Series, and he set the chip bag on the coffee table. Max was so excited for chips that he jumped up on the table and crawled into the chip bag to retrieve one for himself. I walked in and saw hubbie glued to the TV, and a big black tail waving out of the chip bag, and it was smoking! Max had brushed his tail against the new big scented candle we had just lit! I didn't know who to shout at first! Fortunately hubbie had just noticed and put out the smoking cat! He had only singed a few hairs. It could have been a disaster! We burn that candle all the time and he's never got into before. What a relief!

  3. WoW !!! A definite close shave !!!!
Just a few weeks back I knew that there were new baby kitties in my garden - about 7 weeks or so old. I came down one morning and looked out the kitchen window whilst waiting for the kettle and I see something in the 'skimmer' hole of the swimming pool. O went out there and it was one of the new baby kitties sitting inside. She must have fallen into the water but managed to swim inside the skimmer basket hole !! She would not have been able to get out of the pool because the edge was too high for her to reach. I got her out - she was soaked but otherwise seemed ok. She is now creeping into my house with her mother and 2 other siblings so it looks like my number of 23 kitties will increase !!!

  4. We have had some incidents that did not end so well :(
Our current cat Sabre gave us a scare last year when she appeared with an odd wound on her head--she spends most of her time outdoors. She is not a cuddly cat--except when she wraps herself around my neck--so I had a hard time treating it. It took a long time but it finally healed up.

  5. Yikes! These close calls are causing me all kinds of anxiety! Soooo happy to hear of the favorable outcomes so I can breathe a sigh of relief. Very happy you found your sweet Jetta and caught a glimpse of Char so you knew she was still well, Janis. Kitties, really aren't all that fond of moving and we had two kitties find alternative homes for that reason. Both of our current kitties are Pixie Bobs a fairly newly recognized breed with some (probably folkloric) ties to the natural breeding between barn cats and bobcats (they have naturally bobbed tails, BTW). Anyway, the vaccines for the usual stuff had to be special, which are vet obtained when we got Goliath, but there had been no mention of any danger from the rabies shot...WRONG! On the way home from the vet, Goliath started choking and shaking and we immediately turned around. He had gone into anaphylactic shock from the rabies vaccine and had to be immediately shot with epinephrine and hospitalized. Fortunately he survived and is working on his 14th year. xxD dlmundinger(at)yahoo(dot)com USA

  6. I was working on a quilt and left my project to make dinner. Came back to it and no needle and thread. Yep cat had ate it. Emergency trip to the vet and several dollars later he is alive and well. Lesson learned for me. Keep thread away from cat.

  7. Love that cat in a box image!
My story to share... we had a cat named Spooky, who was a big, 16 pound male. I didn't let him out at night, but he was free to roam during the day. One night, he didn't come in. I worried all night, and got up several times to look for him, even wandering around in the neighborhood calling for him. At one point, getting near daylight, in our backyard, thought I heard him cry. But the neighbors peeked out their bedroom window at me and I knew I was disturbing them, so I went back in the house to wait til a more decent hour! After it got light, and at a more reasonable time, I went out looking again. It was very foggy and wet out. I heard him crying as I got closer but I still wan't spotting him. I finally got to the corner of our acre+ property, and lo and behold, a wet and scared Spooky draped over a branch and stuck up in a tree! My hubby had to get a ladder to get him down. I'll never forget the look on Spooky's face and I was so glad he was OK!

we all searched about an hour but we didnt found her.
I was at the edge and I strt to cray then she just appeared in front of me!
    OH how I was happy!
we never found out where she was.
    but she loves to hide.
After day or two I put her colar with bell
now I hear her when she walks.

  9. I will comment but I don't dare read any other comments today. I hate reading about pet close calls. Too scary! We used to have a cat named after German hockey player Uwe Kruppe. We also used to have a couch with a recliner on one end. I sat in the recliner reading for a long time then closed up the recliner and got ready for bed. After a few minutes I realized no Uwe and I looked and looked and looked. Finally I cautiously opened up the recliner and there was Uwe. It had caught him on the neck and he was caught squished to the floor. He was fine after a bit of attention, but we never ever ever opened the recliner again. I couldn't wait to get rid of that couch.

  10. Our oldest cat was enjoying the sun on our pool deck laying on the patio table. One of our kittens decided he was going to scare her and she jumped and missed the deck landing in the pool, in the deep end. I thankfully was near the window closest to the table and heard a splash then a horrific scream! I ran out to find her struggling to keep her head above water. She never would have been able to get out of the pool on her own.

  11. My cats must live "charmed" lives because I can't think of any close calls they have had. BUT if you were to talk to Boots (one of my male cats), he would tell you about the time a "monster" bag chased him and nearly scared him to death. :) I had come home from shopping and he was in all the plastic bags nosing around. He got tangled up in one of the bags with it attaching itself to his tail...well it scared him so he started running. Of course the bag followed him because it was looped on his tail scaring him even more. I was finally able to catch him and remove the bag which was hard to do because I was laughing so hard. :)

  13. One of our kitties, Miss Kitty, had actually belonged to our grandmother, and when she passed, we needed to bring her to our house. Well, Miss Kitty had other plans; she had not intention of going with us. So we had to set up a wild animal trap to try to catch her. We caught the same neighborhood tom cat three times;he was so angry! Finally, after a month of loading the trap and checking on it every day, we finally caught her!!! I don't know what would have became of her, if we hadn't been able to bring her home to our house. Although, you could hear her fussing for miles, after we got her home, she became the sweetest and most loving cat. She loved being petted so much that she would drool when you pet her. She lived to be nineteen years old, and we loved her so much! :)

  14. Oh my gosh.. the moment when I realised my Blackie had gotten back inside when I set of the fumigating insect bomb (fogger) off in the house!(2005) OMGosh.. I had to cover my nose and mouth - run back inside finding him collapsed under the dining room table, scooped him up and ran him outside and to the vet. He came around and is still with us today thank goodness. mandysea1 at yahoo dot com

  15. My close call was just in trying to keep them as dad didn't want us to have cats ever since the first one I had puked under their bed and the smell was hard to get rid of! So years later my best friend got her dad in on the trick and when they came for supper he asked if my dad had anything against accepting gifts. Dad said no and in came Widdle, Puddy and Tats with ribbons on their cute little heads. Reluctantly he let them stay... but only if they stayed outside. We had a screened porch and that's where they started out. A short time after they arrived mom started noticing strange 'fly droppings' on the sliding glass door leading to the screened porch. They weren't dark, but clear. She couldn't figure it out. Days later she caught dad standing in front of the sliding glass door eating his morning half a grapefruit while watching the kittens and splattering a bit on the door. BUSTED!! In the end, I think he enjoyed having them around as much, if not more than I!

  16. Yay that you found some of your missing kitties, Janis! I can just imagine how happy and excited you must be!

Poor Roza - so glad it had a positive outcome. Very scary situation! As for a close call, I can't think of anything life threatening. But my beloved kitty Muffin (RIP) lost part of his tail when my ex-boyfriend slammed the bedroom door on it. It was an emergency trip to the vet. Muffin was none the worse for wear but I was an emotional wreck!

Thank you to today's spotlighted sponsors! I will make my rounds to thank them soon. All of today's cards are adorable!

  17. For the last 25 years all my feline fur babies have been indoor cats so there are no real tales of close calls but I remember when I was a child we had a sweet yellow tabby who loved to sit on the furnace grate in the floor. SHe could get warm without any effort at all. Unfortunately, the way the grate was designed (or perhaps improperly installed) it got very hot over a short period of time; hot enough to scorch fabrics. Tabby would drag an old towel that lined his bed onto the grate and then lie down on it. Mother was always concerned that either he would burn his little paws or the towel would catch fire but neither ever happened. It was always a war between Tabby and Mother as to where the towel was going to stay. :-D

  18. Well, there was the time I thought baby Bear (our black cat) got out of the house and I went driving around the block like a crazy woman looking for a tiny ball of black. I also walked the block calling his name, until my son text me that he found bear... inside asleep on the couch. And there was the time only hours of bring Bear home when I sat in my recliner and heard a crunching noise, so I screen to my son and husband "OMG, I think I crushed BEAR!" the crunching sound was a cat toy.

  19. One of our cat, named Pepelka, had this horrable accident last year. We could not find her for whole day. Our daughters was searching her. They were very upset. In the evening our neighbour come to tell me, they found our cat in water butt and she could not come out. Luckily water butt was empty. Pepelka was very scared and dehydrate, but in the end she had luck.

  20. My son one day years ago came running into the the kitchen The Cat! The Cat! The Cat!! What. I went running into the living room to discover that he had put on a new collar I had just recently bought for our black cat Midnight (going back to the 80's). And had pulled it so tight the cats eyes were bulging from choking!!! I looked over and grabbed a pair of scissors that was lying on the coffee table (Lucky for us) and cut it off in a second. All was well. I always put my fingers in a cats collar to this day, to assure myself it is not too tight! My cat, friends cat, neighbors cat etc!
