Hi, Friends.......

I am here with a simple masculine birthday card to show you today. Guys don't really appreciate fancy cards like we girls do, so I made a bunch of uncomplicated ones with this fabulous elk image from Stampin' Up for some of the gentlemen at church. (I try to make BD cards for everyone in our small church. :) )

My son happened upon the entire Stampin' Up - Yukon stamp set for me at a thrift store for a mere pittance.  I was excited to get to use it!  It's an old set.....labels say 2002!...but such awesome images. Since elk abound where we live here in Idaho, this is particularly applicable for the guys. I cut the background on the diagonal for a little extra interest without being too over-the-top.

Supplies used include:
Stampin' Up - Yukon stamp set (elk)
Mark's Finest Papers - North American Woods stamp set (sentiment)
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Clear embossing powder
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Square STAX die set
Distress Ink in Walnut Stain
Scraps of Core'dinations kraft and black cardstock from stash
DCWV patterned paper background

Here's a shot of all the cards I made of this design. They are each a little different but still have the clean and simple lines that keep a card from being too fussy for most men. The ones with ribbon have it tied in a knot rather than a bow.

Thank you for stopping by. I still have a few more cards to post, so I hope to see you soon!!

  2. What a great find, and how cool that your son knows you well enough to pick this set up for you! I, too, started making birthday cards for everyone at our small church last year. The masculine ones can be tough, but you now have a fabulous collection! Great image, colors and layout for those non-fussy men! : ) Thanks for playing with The House That Stamps Built.

  7. Eeek! I'm just hyperventilating at the thought of James finding that treasure in a thrift shop!! That's a great set for any masculine design and looks great in any color. An additional bonus is that it can be stamped and left uncolored...for a wonderful engraved look! Love the set of cards, and so will the recipients.
