Introducing........
THE SPONSORS FOR DAY 3

MHK Designs
and

K&K Woodworking

 ***************************************
Click to shop!First on the list of sponsors today is MHK Designs!!!

Owner/designer Mynn Kitchen is known all over papercrafting land for her sweet and supportive personality and for her wonderful cards and projects. Just about a year ago, she launched her MHK Designs. I am not usually a big digi crafter, but I am IN LOVE with her digital designs!!! I just *had* to ask if she would sponsor and she answered right away with a big "Yes".

Purr-Fect Digital Stamp SetI knew right away which stamp set I was going to request. Her fabulous Purr-fect Digi stamp set. I LOVE this set so much and I know you will, too!!! Well, not only did she agree to donate this set as a prize, but she is also tossing in a digital paper pack, too!!! THANKS, Mynn!!!

Would you like to see what I made with that awesome digital set?
I had never colored a vintage image like this before.....and I don't have all the colors of Spectrum Noirs....so I had to mix them to TRY to get the right tones.  My bricks are way too bright!!!  You'll have to be patient with me as I am learning!!  :)
I used some Graphic 45 (also one of our sponsors!!) paper from the Times Nouveau collection for the background and some wonderfully delicious crinkly ribbon from Karen over at Little Scrap Pieces.  I am really pleased with this first attempt at coloring this kind of vintage image.....even though there is definite room for improvement!
Please take time to visit MHK Designs at these social media spots: Blog, Etsy Store, and Facebook Group. Don't forget to Like, Follow, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"
*******************************

Do you like the bow I made for the above card???? And for the Unity card I made for Day 2??? I recently bought a handcrafted bow maker gadget off Ebay from K&K Woodworking. It has helped me so much to make attractive bows for my cards!!! (K&K Woodworking also makes beautiful signs and decor items out of wood. You'll see some when you visit their Facebook page to thank them for sponsoring!!! :) )

I contacted them about sponsoring this hop and they are donating one of the 6" Bow Makers!!!  WOW!!!  You can find all sorts of easy to follow instructional videos on YouTube to make awesome bows with this amazing gadget!!

Please take time to visit K&K Woodworking at their Ebay Store and Facebook. Don't forget to Like, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"

DAILY GAME TIME!!!!!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MY SHOP The Daily Game is generously sponsored each day by Ike's Art!!!!
One lucky participant in Today's Game will win this prize from Ike's Art.  It's from her new digital stamp set " FLEAZ NAVIDAD " and called "Carol Cats".  CUTE!!!!
Here's the card I made from this wonderful digi:
Yes, that kitty DOES have teeth, but I realize now that I should have accented them with a white gel pen!!  oops...
I followed Ike's title of this image "Carol Cats" and used one of my silver double-embossed layered backgrounds (Darice - Music Background embossing folder).  A little speech balloon of musical symbols and the sentiment Joy to the World topped it off.  Hope you like it!
Now for today's game. It's easy...all you have to do is tell us about your first cat.
This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1.  Leave a comment telling us about your first kitty.  I never get tired of reading about everyone's cats!!!
2.  After you finish your comment telling us about your first cat, fill out your (own) name in the link up below.  This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed!  You don't even need a blog!!!  This is for everyone!!!  This link up will close today at 11:55 pm Pacific, October 26, 2016.  I will draw the lucky winner from the linkup, so don't forget to do that part.  However, I would still love for you to share about your first kitty in the comments below, even if you miss the linkup deadline!
My first kitty was named Rascal, a brown mackerel-striped tabby. (Maybe because of her, striped is still my favorite pattern for kitty coats!) I was only 6 or 7 years old and didn't know how to make friends with her....so even though she was my kitty, she didn't like me very well. I still loved her, though. She had a couple litters of kittens and my Dad said that was enough. Of course, my parents wouldn't spend money to get a female cat spayed, so instead I am sad to report that they took her and the second litter of kittens to a shelter where she was no doubt euthanized....and I can only hope where homes were found for the babies. I didn't know any better at the time, of course, but years later when I came to that realization I felt a deep sadness that I still feel this very moment. (Maybe this is partly why I could never part with any kittens that were born to us.) I don't blame my parents. Cats were disposable to them, I guess. I always had a cat or two while I was growing up, but Rascal was my very first.
Okay, now it is your turn!!  I am looking forward to hearing about your first kitty!
REMEMBER:  Link your cat-themed projects over on the
MAIN POST.  The link-up below is to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have told us about your first cat in the comments.  Thanks!!!
    My first kitty... I would have been - about 3 or 4 yrs old - what I can remember (and I do) is her name was 'Tuppence' because she was so little (a runt) and she was the most beautiful grey tabby (have photos), I cant remember what happened to her though in the end,these are things that were kept away from us - only that she went to heaven. mandysea1 at yahoo dot com
  4. Fabulous cards! I've never thought to color a vintage image like that but I turned out beautifully and the bow and papers ROCK! Fabulous work with Ike's adorable image, too. that sparkly embossing sure is festive. I got my first kitty for my 4th birthday. I remember going to someone's house with my parents and picking out a kitten from their Siamese litter. I named him Twinkle and used to sing "Twinkle, twinkle little cat" to him. I wanted to dress him in doll clothes but he wouldn't let me. (Goliath does, though. LOL) xxD dlmundinger(at)yahoo(dot)com USA
  5. My first kitty was a gorgeous calico long haired beauty. My brother in law gave her to me. She was so sweet and gorgeous. I only had her for a few months before someone stole her from us. My next kitty was my best friend and first child for 20 years! She was always by my side, slept with me, sat by me. She's been gone for 8 years and I still miss her every day!
  6. Aw, I enjoyed reading about your Rascal. Times were different back then, weren't they.
    The first cat I remember was called Key. Her name was Kitty but my brother, who was just a baby, could only say Key so that ended up being her name. Sadly I remember the morning my Mom came into my bedroom and sat on my bed. I had just woken up and she told me that Key had been hit by a car. The driver came to the door to let us know, and then Dad buried her. I think I was around 7. I loved Key so much and always wanted another kitty. My little brother was very allergic to cats due to asthma and we weren't able to have another one. When I grew up and moved into my own apartment I got my own kitty, my beloved Muffin, but that's another long story, filled with lots of cat love!
    Great sponsors again today! I will head over to their FB pages to thank them! I have that same digi set from Mynn but have not used it yet - your card is gorgeous, Janis! Also love your fun card with Ike's carolling kitties! That image is just darling! Love the open-mouthed kitty! The bow maker looks very cool! Thanks for another fun day of the hop!
  7. I enjoyed looking at all your lovely Cats creations giving me lots ideas. This is my first time playing in the fun hop, really enjoy exploring and reading interesting stuff. My first kitty was from a neighbour whose cat had given birth, we were playing with the kittens when I asked if I could bring one home with me. I was about 7 years old. I named her Xiao Mi, Little Grains in Mandarin.
  8. I was very young when I got my first kitty! She was all white and named Snowball! I don't remember her at all, but I have seen pictures of myself holding Snowball in my arms when I was about a year old! I have lived with a kitty my entire life, except when I lived in the dorms in college.
  9. I love how you colored that vintage digi image. It's just stunning!
    My first cat was Matty, who was supposed to be Maddie but I guess I was too young to be understood. (I still have trouble with saying some sounds and that's why our Cindy is Cindy and not Sidney like hubby wanted--I just can't say that!). Matty was a very soft long haired tabby and just the love of my life. I had her until we moved to Arizona when I was 12. She didn't last long after that. Most likely coyotes got her. We didn't know outside wasn't safe in AZ. My parents lost lots of cats before they made them indoor only.
    As a related story I was allergic to everything as a child including cats so I got allergy injections for pollens, molds, and cats. I was retested later in life and I am no longer allergic to cats (but am still allergic to everything else). So when people tell me they can't have a cat because they are allergic I just think they aren't trying hard enough.
  10. Love the way you colored those kitties!
    I got my first cat, Cosan, when I was about 5. We were down in Santa Barbara visiting my grandparents, and as a surprise, we stopped on the way home to pick up a beautiful Siamese kitten, which was arranged by my Mom. We had a long drive home to the Bay Area and also had our dog, Fuzzy, in the car with us. We were afraid they would not get along and that the dog would hurt the kitten. My sister and I each held onto them both to keep them separated. All of a sudden, they got away from us. Fuzzy licked Cosan and they became good buddies.
  11. Such gorgeous cards - I really love that silver embossed music one on the kitty card. Thank you for making a lovely card with them Janis :-D
    I got my very first cat when I left home at 21. She was totally black and was born in a flour factory in Kent. A friend bought her into work for me in London in an old gas mask tin. She was only about 5 weeks old. On the way home on the Tube, she kept sticking her legs out of the holes in the tin and made all the people sitting around me laugh. :-) I called her Sami. I had her for about 6 years until she went batzy when I was living in my 'haunted' house and in the end she had to be put to sleep. :-(
    I have never been without at least 1 cat since then :-D xxxx
  12. I didn't have any cats growing up but both of my grandmas did. My mom tells the story of me as a toddler sitting on the porch steps with a kitty going back and forth across my back and me saying " Twit dat kitty" over and over --I was clearly enjoying it. I still like it when they rub up against my legs. I received a furry stuffed kitty for my birthday around that same time. My other grandma had barn cats and I was determined to tame one of the kittens when we were there on vacation. By the end of the week I was successful. Once I was married my husband and I have adopted a lot of stray cats. So many stories--some happy and some sad.
  13. Your vintage card really is beautiful, Janis, and the G45 papers and crinkly bow are stunning. Super card made with Ike's cheeky carol singing cats - love the speech bubble you added with music notes!
    My first cat was a black and white tuxedo; a fluffy little bundle called Suzie. I was about nine years old when we got her and she was my first pet. She was a constant companion and even came to help feed the chickens on my granddad's allotment!
  14. First I must say both cards are awesome! I love the rich backgrounds-beautiful! And I love the bow maker- it is a must have to create some gorgeous bows I know. Right now I wrap ribbon around my fingers to try and get a double bow! Lol.
    My first cat in the 70's was a stray, her name was midnight... she was a black beauty. I never had any problems from her. But when we moved she got out on me and got lost.
  15. Your cards are awesome! My first kitty that I remember was a farrel kitten. He(or she, I don't even know), was born to a farm cat under the dirt road. There was a metal pipe that went under the road. I found it dead one day because the neighbors put out rat poison and he got in it.
    My first kitty that I remember well is one I got when I got a roomate who said they were allergic to dogs. I had been wanting a dog forever but we got an orange tabby named George. Dumb as a box of rox. Always out in front of our apt. climbing the tree and then crying for rescue because he didn't know how to get down. We also got his sister, Mitzar, she was a long haired calico beauty. Anyway from that point on I was a cat person.
  17. Both your cards are beautiful! Such heartfelt kitty stories - hugs to all of you who lost your kitties XOXOXO I still mourn the loss of all my cats who have moved on, hopefully I'll see them another time. I grew up in a house where we always had cats & dogs, but my first cat, the first one I brought home, was when I was about 6. She was a long haired tortie looking cat and because she was so regal I named her Tasha. She wasn't the smartest cat tho and would run toward the car whenever someone came home. She only got hit once and she survived. She was put to sleep due to old age but she lived a happy life. She was a sweet cat ~ Christi - StampinDiva@yahoo.com - USA
  18. LOVE your cards for today and am madly trying to catch up on all the cat-festivities after having been gone for a couple of days. That silvery musical background is custom made for the Carol Cats, and I am just in love with the sweet vintage image by MHK Designs. Our first cat was Tina, who was adopted from the shelter. I never thought my husband would ever agree to getting a cat, until he found a tiny kitten under the hood of his truck, which was parked in the parking lot of our business one cold winter morning. The poor kitten had runny eyes and was obviously ill, and he tried to catch it so we could take it to the vet. Unfortunately, the kitten ran away and into a huge hedge that bordered the property and we never were able to capture it (although we looked for it for days). I was just heartbroken and then shocked, when my hubby said that we may as well save a cat's life in another way...but adopting one. Tina lived to be 17 years old and was our senior old-lady of the family!
  19. What a lovely vintage digi and you colored it so well! I'm sorry I got backed up and didn't get here yesterday - Ike's digi is so fun! That cat looks like he's saying 'meyowza!'!
    I was too little to remember the first cat I had, except that dad made me get rid of it when it barfed under their bed. In spite of my constant pleas he never let me have another one until I was in my teens and we lived in a place with plenty of land for critters to roam. A friend of mine had kittens and when they came to dinner, her dad asked my dad if he would accept a gift from them. Unsuspecting, dad said 'yes' and was handed a basket with three kittens with bows tied on their necks. I was ecstatic! When trying to name them I remarked at the gray putty-colored one and dad said, "why don't you name the other two Widdle and Tats? That way when you call them you can say, 'Here Widdle, Putty, Tats!'" And so they were named! He always pretended to be irritated that he'd been tricked into having them, but mom could never understand why the sliding glass door kept getting dirty with unusual splatters of something. Then, one day she caught him standing there eating his morning grapefruit and watching the kittens play. The cat was out of the bag... he like them as much as we did! : ) (USA - dcomer1 gmail)
