Hi, Friends......

I am here today with a rustic Christmas card for the wonderful Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge:

I also am linking this up to Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge where she asks us to use some Never Before Used Schtuff that we have in our stash. This time my NBUS item is a recent acquisition...a JOY die from Winnie & Walter. LOVE!!!

I fussy cut the poinsettias and added a second layer over the top by cutting an additional "inside"  for more fullness. (That's a TON of scissors-work for someone like me whose crafting tends more toward accidental amputations of unsuspecting flower petals and cute critter limbs rather than artistic fussy cutting!!) I stamped the solid leaves with a contrasting vein and then outlined them with a distress marker before fussy cutting, so they wouldn't get lost against the background. I wasn't sure if the poinsettia leaves would look too weird (like, ummmm...DEAD!) if I stayed with the color combo and didn't use green. But I think they look okay in the DI Antique Linen. I went over all the flowers and leaves with Wink of Stella for some holiday sparkle.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Joy die
Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Hollie's Festive Florals stamp set
Versafine ink in Satin Red and Vintage Sepia
Distress Marker in Vintage Photo
Distress Ink in Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Gathered Twigs, and Walnut Stain
The Paper Studio - Woodgrain embossing folder
Zig - Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen
Adhesive rhinestones from my stash in a tan color
DCWV Glitter cardstock
Core'dinations heavy duty white cardstock for dry embossed background

Hope you enjoyed seeing my card. This is the last day (actually this is a bonus day, but who's counting?  lol...) for Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge and there are just two more days for the W&W Color Combo Challenge, so hurry if you want to join in!! See you there!!  Thank you so much for stopping by.

  2. Your rustic card is very pretty, Janis! We both have poinsettias on our cards, but doesn't look like you cased me at all, so not to worry!

  5. Grrr. Has anyone else complained that there comments just disappear from your blog. Some GIF must be running in the background? It happens every time to me and I write such long comments that it is frustrating!! I thought you would want to know! Rant over.

I love your beautiful rustic Christmas card! That bold JOY is lovely against the wood-grain background with the sweet little poinsettias nestled around! Thank you so much for playing three times in my NBUS Challenge #12! Hugs, Darnell

  6. Now I'm mad that I was typing so fast I didn't proof and I typed "there" instead of "their!" Haha, that's a pet peeve of mine and now it was ME who did it. Oops!! I blame it on old age! Please?

  7. Me again. I think I figured it out. When your page first loads, a lot of times that first traditional cat photo or video you put on your post doesn't load. Well, sometimes that happens on people's blogs, so I just go ahead and start commenting thinking it's a glitch. Then in the middle of my comment or just as I'm proofing it, the photo finishes loading (up above and out of sight) and that action removes the comment the person is making before they can hit publish. I can't think what can be done about it; I'll just try and remember to sit here and wait for your photo to load before I comment. So nothing for you to do! I just wanted you to know I figured it out, so you didn't fret about it and try to find out what's going on. xxoo

  8. Ooo - love that beautiful big "JOY" die cut accented with your lovely little poinsettias! Fussy cutting sure added to their beauty -- I had to smile at your description of yourself as one who "accidentally amputates flower petals and cute critter limbs!"
Thanks for linking this up to the Cropstop blog -- hope you'll join us again soon!
