Hi, Friends.....
It is Day 5 and have you seen how many projects are linked up??? It has been so much fun hopping around with you this week. I love taking my time reading each post, enjoying and admiring your beautiful stories and projects. Keep in mind that tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 26) is the LAST DAY to post projects, but you will still have Sunday, Oct. 27 to finish leaving comments.
I am always so impressed when reading the generous comments left on each other's projects. The friendly nature of our hop really shines through!!! Thank you for that. You make me so proud of our participants. 🖤
Did everyone enjoy the Daily Game yesterday? In case you missed it, you can still join the fun by making up a short piece of "Cat Poetry". What a Hoot!! Everyone did such a great job. They were all fantastic....showing great insight into the complexities of life with cats, LOL...
I was particularly impressed with the pieces by a few international "hopper-poets" who speak English as a second (or even third or fourth) language. I knew it would be a major challenge for them, but their poems were totally awesome!! Thank you to Arianna Barbara and Fiki for being brave and giving it a try. Hope to see a few more of you try it, too!!
Remember....you only have through tomorrow night (Sat., Oct 26) to link up projects HERE, but you still have all through Sunday (Oct. 27) to finish commenting.
Let's get right on to the festivities for today!
The featured sponsors for Day 5 are: Sweet 'n Sassy, Kellie Stamps, Jane's Doodles, The Cat's Pajamas, Riley and Company, and, as always, for our Daily Game, Ike's Art.

Ike has graciously designed a fabulous new set of digital images for prizes for our Daily Games.......her brand-new Mood Cat digital set with interchangeable faces to add to the cat image. How fun and creative is that??!!! She is generously providing a set of these to a lucky winner of the Daily Game EACH day of the Hop. WOW!!!
Ike kindly shared a set of these super-fun digis with me and I used my favorite of the entire series for today's card....the "Total Stinkeye" face. Bwahahaha.....so RIGHT for cats!!
(The designers of this cat paper pack didn't quiiiiiiiite get the sentiment right, so I had to make a correction by crossing part of it out!! Ha. The Stinkeye expression and the EMPTY food bowl say it all. That "Best Cat" bowl just cracks me up!!! lol...)
You can read more details about my card HERE. |
Okay....now for sure you NEED this digital set, right??? Well, GOOD NEWS!.....Ike has a set of these to give to a winner EACH DAY OF THE HOP, but you have to play in the Daily Game AND put your name in the Linky below!!!
NOTE: PLEASE PLAY THE DAILY GAMES EVEN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE IN THE DRAWINGS FOR THE DIGI PRIZES.
Not all of you use digis and have indicated that to me when you SIGNED IN. I hope you will still participate in the Daily Games. You do NOT have to participate in the digi giveaway to answer the Daily Game question that lets us all get to know each other better. If you DO want to be in the digi prize drawing, be sure to link up your name each day that you participate!
REMEMBER.....you must link up your name in the linky tool at the bottom of each post to be in the drawing for the digi prizes.
DAY 5 GAME: Do you have a favorite "celebrity" cat?
As we all know, cats are hugely popular these days. This has given rise to a number of cats being widely known all over the world through advertisements, FB and blog posts, and memes.
I want to mention and give honor to several of my favorites who sadly passed on in the last year, but whose influence will be felt for many years to come.
1. Newton - The iconic ginger tabby, inspiration for the name and illustrations of Newton's Nook Designs,
just passed this last weekend. You can read their FB post here that was put up just a few hours ago. He was 18. I knew he was in very fragile
health, but I am heartbroken for Jen and Jeff....especially since they
had so recently lost their other kitty Hobbes, too.
(I originally had this Celebrity Cat Daily Game planned for Day 6.....but as soon as I heard about Newton I switched it to Day 5 and placed Newton at the top.)
2. Hobbes - Many of you know that Jen and her hubby, Jeff, from Newton's Nook Designs lost their Hobbes kitty a few months ago. Hobbes was the long-time snuggle buddy of the real-life Newton. Our hearts go out to them during this very sad time of losing two kitties so close together. 💔
3. Grandpa Mason - You might not be familiar with this old feral fighter
who was terminally ill with only months to live when he was humanely trapped and
given emergency care. Battle-scarred and wary, the story changed
abruptly when he was introduced to some tiny foster kittens.
Astonishingly, he survived and thrived for nearly three more years. He helped raise numerous litters of orphan kittens until just a few weeks ago when he passed away. 💓
4. Tardar Sauce (Grumpy Cat)
- Probably the most famous cat in the world, this diminutive cat became
internationally known for her sour expression. She was actually a very
sweet kitty, according to her owners, but a congenital condition caused
her frowny look. Complications from a urinary tract infection claimed her life at age 7 . :(
Do you have a favorite one or two? Perhaps one of these or a different one you might introduce to us?

This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1. Make sure you have SIGNED IN HERE to be eligible for prizes.
2. Leave a comment telling us if you have a favorite celebrity cat.
3. After you finish your comment: if you want to be in the drawing for the prize, fill out your (own) name in the link up below. This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed! You don't even need a blog!!! This is for everyone!!!
NOTE: The Daily Game link ups will be open the entire duration of the Hop, including the extra day for comments. Entries need to be in by 11:55 pm Pacific, Sunday Oct. 27, 2019 to be eligible for the daily prize. I realize that not everyone has access to a printer or likes to use digis, so I am still keeping the link up gadget to make sure the digi prizes go to winners who can use them. But I am hoping EVERYONE will participate in answering the questions whether they are putting their name in for the prize or not.
Okay, now it is your turn!
REMEMBER: Link your cat-themed projects over on the Main Hop Page. (Please use #2019CatLoversHop on social media!!) This link-up below is just to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have commented. Thanks!!!
Only two more days in our hop! Tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 26) is the LAST DAY to post projects. So get those neglected cat stamps inked up to get another card or two linked up HERE!!! You still have through Sunday, Oct. 27 to comment on projects and play in the Daily Games. Yay!!!
🖤
Janis
I will nominate the legendary "Garfield" I do hope he qualifies!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, besides my own "celebrity cat" Goliath who passed away in April, I must say I was also devastated by the loss of Grumpy Cat who made me laugh until I cried and cry over her passing nearly as much as if she were my own. Gotta say even her "real name" made me giggle, though. We have magnet of her face right on our espresso machine to greet us every morning and help turn our frowns upside down. My heart goes out to all who have suffered losses, especially in the last year. I can't imagine how poor Jen and Jeff are dealing with the loss of their TWO beloved fur babies so close together. And although I'd not heard of Grandpa Mason, his story is so heart warming tears are rolling down my cheeks. RIP to all of our beloved furr-ever friends. I'm sure they're all partying together across the rainbow bridge. xxxD
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love 'Cole and Marmalade' and they have extraordinary human parents! https://coleandmarmalade.com/about/ I REMEMBER reading about Grandpa Mason - such a beautiful heart!! My ex feral Blackie had a beautiful heart too. Sigh. So sorry to hear he had passed away! I love your card Janis..loved the crossed out 'un' so true at times LOL!
ReplyDeleteLoL - Excellent cat meme :-D
ReplyDeleteFabulous creation with ' Stinkeye ' kitty LoL How true is that sentiment ? hahahaha
I loved Newton and was so sad to read this morning that he had passed :-(
I also loved Grumpy Cat.
My favourites - especially for the really funny videos made by the 'Dad' are COLE & MARMALADE https://www.facebook.com/ColeandMarmalade/

My favourites have been Morris (9 Lives Cat Food fame), Grumpy Cat (what's not to love?), Newton and Hobbes (so very sad to read of them both passing, loved them so much), and I know she's not a real cat, but I also love Hello Kitty. I have not heard of Grandpa Mason, so thank you for featuring him.
ReplyDeleteFeeling very sad today after reading about Newton, Hobbes, and Donna's Goliath.
Thank you, dear and thanks for reminding me about Morris. He actually came from the Hinsdale Humane Society in the town in which I was born and grew up. So close we could walk there.
Delete18 is a great age for a cat but how sad and what a gap they leave in our lives after such a long time. I'm afraid I don't know of any famous cats - how sad is that!
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to the Newton's Nook family. Such a great loss. I think my favorite celebrity cat is Maru the box cat. Here is a link to one of their many videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXtHwvp7jYE
ReplyDeleteHe loves a any box! I have a cross stitch of Grumpy Cat that I should post to the hop too! He even was in a movie!
It makes me feel so sad to read about these beautiful cats that are no longer with us, and yes, even my feline heroine Grumpy Cat was beautiful in her own way. I love all the memes that she has inspired and often use my own favourite "Grumpy Cat" stamp from the Katzelkraft "Les Chats Russes" set to do the same. OMG in 5 days of hopping I've not used that stamp, or any others from the set, at all! As soon as i post this i must go and put that right.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I'm sad to hear about these fur babies passing. God bless all of them. I know they were loved and their owners are heartbroken. I had never heard of Grandpa Mason - he sure looks like a sweetie. My favorite has to be Grumpy Cat. I have her pic on a Christmas T-shirt that's supposed to resemble an 'Ugly Christmas Sweater' that I wear every Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLet me start by letting you know that the link to Kellie's FB page is broken. :-( I've visited all the other sponsors and left them a loving Thank You.
ReplyDeleteNext, my heart goes out to all who have lost feline family this year but especially to Jan and Jeff for losing both Newton and Hobbes in such a short span of time. Newton was a favorite of mine.
Janis, I adore your card! You have done such marvelous things with all of Ike's cat faces this week, but 'Total Stinkeye' with his fun sentiment is absolutely the best! lol
Fav Celebrity Cats: Morris (9 Lives cat food) was my reigning favorite for many years, and then Grumpy Cat came along. Currently, I'm totally in love with Simon's Cat, easily found on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH6vXjt-BA7QHl0KnfL-7RQ
I appreciate the heads-up on that link, Connie. Fixed.
DeleteOh, I am glad you mentioned Simon's Cat. What fun animated videos....I totally love them, too!!
Thank you for your sweet comment about my card. I had soooooo much fun with that one. All the comments left on our projects really make our day, don't they! Thank you, EVERYONE, for your generous gift of encouraging words!!
<3
Janis
I was really sorry to hear about Newton, as he has been a favorite of mine for a long time. He joins his buddy Hobbes. Heartfelt condolences to Jen and Jeff for losing two in such a short period of time.
ReplyDeleteI'd read about Grandpa Mason recently, but didn't know he passed away.

ReplyDeleteLove your card! The sentiment is really funny!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for Newton... He's my favourite kitty! I love Newton'stamps.
Thank you so much for your sweet words, Janis! <3 <3 <3
I had fun yestrday :D
ReplyDeleteI have these stamps From Janes Doodles so dont count me in drawing for these.oh these are so nice prizes!thank you sponsors.
I was so sad when I saw on IG that Newton passed away.
he is my favorite celebrety cat.
and then is owl Kitty on instagram :D
hugs
Oh, how sad that Newton's gone now too. I heard about Hobbes from you, Janis, and then saw the mention by one of the hoppers that Newton was also gone. I still remember how hard it was to lose each of our kitties, and to lose two in such a short time is especially tough. Biology guarantees that we will have to say good-bye to the majority of our sweet pets but it doesn't make it any easier. I will have to pick Newton as my favorite real-life celebrity cat because I still remember first reading about him when I discovered Newton's Nook stamps. And for cartoon cats, I pick Pusheen, who is a favorite of my two granddaughters.
ReplyDeleteSimon's Cat animations are fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that several of these beloved kitties have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I know they are missed.
ReplyDeleteas for a celebrity cat, I am going to show my age and say Morris the cat. :) he always made me smile!
Fabulous card ?Janus. I have been Rita,LG blown away by just how many stamps and digits there are out in blogland of cats. They are all wonderful and displayed here on your hop beautifully. Thankyou for hosting this and the imrnse time and effort you have put into making it such a success. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteSo so sorry to hear of Newton and his buddy Hobbes, for Donna's Goliath, Grandpa Mason, Tardar Sauce and all the other kitties that have passed the rainbow bridge...
ReplyDeleteI too love so much Simon's cat, such awesome videos!! He is international! :D
Garfield is one of my celebrity cats. I grew up in Indiana and Jim Davis lived just miles from my house. I love that Garfield loves to eat...just like my Velcro! Thanks for this wonderful challenge!
ReplyDeleteI was so sad to hear about Newton and Hobbes. To lose 2 babies so close has to be devastating to them. My heart and prayers go out to them. Garfield has always been my favourite cat! Our last rescue cat was black, but she was huge when we first got her, just like Garfield. We got her at 6.5 year old and managed to share her love for approximately 8 years. She still weighed 18.5 lbs. when she passed away, down from the 23 lbs. when we had first brought her into our lives.
ReplyDeleteHooray for all the sponsors and for Riley & Co! I didn't know they had a cat to go with my collection of pop-ups!
ReplyDeleteNEWTON!! (So sorry I hadn't heard about Hobbes.) Lil Bub, Simon's Cat, Black Coffee, Sam Has Eyebrows... Basically ANY famous feline. : )
Hi friends
ReplyDeleteI was always a doggie person but of late i have fallen in love with cats. We hav efiev cats at home 4 males and one female in addition to the gang who are fed daily. The girl lost her babies and was very upset. She is very emotional if we raise out voices even a tiny bit she will not step into teh house for days. She follows me everywhere and is always under my bed or purring near me. She is my companian most of the time.
My friend also has a she cat and her name is princess and we call her princess thotho. She is spoilt but is vvery lovable. My friend has family overseas but doesnt go as she is afraid the cat will die. Teh cat is very old now. Blessings
Dear Janis
ReplyDeleteI never thought cats experience conditions similar to humans until i read your story on Tardar Sauce. I am just wondering how he came to terms with it or was he upset. Blessings
I have always been a fan of Garfield! He is always just hysterical.
ReplyDeleteI only have one celebrity cat which is Garfield since my teenage years.
ReplyDeleteYour card made me giggle so much, I think that is the perfect sentiment for our cats Spats, the love is linked to keeping his food bowl suitably topped up.... any sighting of the bottom of the bowl is not acceptable and love points will be deducted! I think my favourite famous cat would have to be "Simon's Cat", those little animations are such true representations of how cats keep us on our toes! As the owner of a fat fluffy ginger cat Garfield will always be special too! Thanks again Janis for another great day xx
ReplyDeleteNewton is my favorite celebrity cat--so sorry to hear the news.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad that Hobbes and Newton both passed away within a short time of each other - devastating for their owners! I loved Blackie, the wheelchair cat, who sadly passed away 18 months ago. I also like to see Simon's Cat animations - just love to see then pointing their paws to their mouths! x
ReplyDelete
