Hi, Friends.....
Did you get some cards made for World Card Making Day? I managed to get two of them done in the morning before our Annual Community Apple Cider Pressing event. Cider making is the highlight of autumn up here in our tiny mountain community, with games and activities for the kids while older youth and the adults work with the apples. Our neighbor, a honey producer, opens up his "honey house" and lets us use his roomy facilities for the work.
Apples are collected from the trees around here....both cultivated and "wild"....and we all help throughout the afternoon with the various parts of prep work and running the three cider presses (one electric and the others hand-crank). This is the first year I didn't work on the washing, sorting, trimming crew.....I was on the donut crew, instead. We always serve fresh, hot-from-the-oil homemade maple bars......SO YUMMY!!! After helping with cleanup, we all go home with several gallons of fresh cider. OH, YUM!!! It takes a lot of hands to make this all happen but it is so much fun. It's about the only thing that would snag me away from staying home all day and making cards on WCMD!!! lol....
Here's a card I made for a friend's birthday that's coming up soon. I pulled out a small bag of coordinating scraps from my stash and put together this autumny card. Even though it doesn't have the traditional seasonal colors of orange and gold, I think it has a fall vibe to it with the muted brights and warm, vintage shading.
Supplies used include:
Unity - "Happy birthday, pretty lady" from Sabrina {fashionista}
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Scraps of K&Co., DCWV, and Core'dinations/Darice patterned paper and cardstock
Thank you for stopping by today. Don't forget to be getting ready for the 2019 Cat Lovers Hop!! Details at the top of this post.

ReplyDeleteYour card is very sweet, love the vintage feel and that sparkling paper!
Oh my Janis, this card is beautiful...looks like you have added a lot of sparkle or it's in the paper, nonetheless it's gorgeous. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble. Hope to see you at Kat Scrappiness tomorrow for our teaming up with their challenge.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and I enjoyed hearing about your apple cider tradition. Our men's group at church makes apple butter every year.
ReplyDeleteLovely card, Janis, and perfect for fall. What wonderful memories you are making together with neighbors... I don't know if I could be trusted on a donut crew. Your cartoon with the cat under the bed is a perfect depiction of my boy, Sluggo. Thank you for playing along at Double Trouble #39.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at Double Trouble
ReplyDeleteIts wonderful card!
ReplyDeleteOkay, that cat poster has me chuckling...so typical of cats! This is a gorgeous card and the papers you used coordinate so beautifully. It's hard to believe you made it from scraps!
