Awww.....We all know the feel of that gentle head bump that our cats do when we reach down to pet them, don't we? Also, we know about the little happy "fist" this kitty is making. Sweet picture!! |

Hi, Friends....
Welcome to my Day 1 post for the Cat Lovers Hop. I am delighted you are here to join us for a week of cats, cats, and more cats!!! This is your chance to talk about cats with other cat lovers, to comment on their fabulous cat projects, to make and share cat projects of your own, and to have a chance at some fabulous prizes!!!! Please read the Guidelines and FAQ page and go to the hop's main post for linking up.
I am going to try to post a project each day that features products from one or more of our fabulous sponsors. Today I am sharing a card made with some of Graphic 45's "Raining Cats & Dogs". Did you know that Graphic 45 is donating some products from this line as a prize to a lucky random winner? How cool is that????
I hope you will take a moment to visit the Graphic 45 blog and social media spots to tell them "Thanks for sponsoring the Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!!" Here are some links for you:
Graphic 45 blog, Graphic 45 Twitter, Graphic 45 Facebook Page, Graphic 45 Instagram.
My crafty friend, Karen L., sent me some goodies from this G45 line (Thanks, Karen!!!) and I used one of the large cards as the focal panel for this gate card. I matted it in pumpkin and black as a nod to the season....but I don't really think it looks too Halloweenish, just a little bit autumny.
Anybody out there have a cat that looks like this kitty? I have one that sort of does. His name is Marshmallow. Marshy has more white on him than this fluffy armful has, but he's the closest one I have to this illustration. We used to say Marshy was a "big soft clump of somethin' sweet". He was born feral, but his mommy disappeared. We captured him and his sister, Scamper, when they were eating on the back porch at our old house. They were crouching all the way inside the food pans. We refer to this as "the way wild kittens eat". Hard to believe they are 9 years old now!
Here's a photo of the card partially opened up, so you can see the gate effect. A big sheer black bow and some pretty pearls finished it off. I love the vintage look!!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will join in the hop by commenting and/or linking up a cat-themed project on the main post!! Also, I hope you will tell us all about the cats at your house. I promise you'll be getting an earful about my tribe of 20+ cats!!!

gorgeous card janis! Love the cat in arms...... nope don't have a cat like that... mine is a very large, big framed re-educated ex-feral cat, he's probably more like a dog in size and personality than a cat :) Different to any cat I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for the hop!
your card is great!
ReplyDeletelove it!
do you really have 20 cats?
If you do can I come visit you and your cats?
have a nice day
hugs
Hi, Janis! I love the G45 Raining Cats and Dogs set - I have the entire collection! I am totally hoarding it - I can't bear to use it! I think I've only used a few sheets of one of the paper pads. I am such a hoarder with things like this - once I use them, then they are gone and I so enjoy looking at them!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful - I love the image you chose! Such a lovely colour combo! I don't think it looks Halloweenish in any way!
I had no idea you had 20 cats - you are a true cat lover! I only have 3! Mine are not this fluffy but this one reminds me of my Honeydew because he is such a big boy (he weighs 20 lb!). Looking forward to seeing all of your kitty creations this week! I will be heading over to thank G45 for their sponsorship!
G45 makes for a beautiful card!! LOVE this and can't wait to meet the tribe! Thanks again for putting on this fun hop!!
ReplyDeleteGREAT idea for a blog hop! I love your first kitty card! My kitty, Fuzzy, looks a little bit like this one too!
ReplyDeleteTake Care!
Michele
Love your first creation for this amazing hop! Great G45 sets, love the color scheme with gate fold creation! I don,t have pets but I love cats and dogs!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Janis. Love G45! Looking forward to seeing everyone's creations. We almost took home two kittens a few years ago (orphaned), but we have a parrot (he's 19) and I was just too afraid of how he might react. Especially since my parrot actually thinks HE'S a kitty cat ... lol
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, and love that paper. Great layout! Excited for this hop.
ReplyDeleteYeah Janis, cats everywhere. What a lovely start to the hop. Such a sweet image. Hugz
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card!!! I love Graphic 45 papers - the only prob;em is I can't bear to use them!! None of my Fabulous Feline Five resemble this kitty, but we had a cat named Tasha growing up who was part "fluffy", she had many more colors than this kitty, but she was SO fluffy and affectionate. While I can't participate this year I can at least pop by and comment :)(and you will see me next year for SURE!) ~ Hugs!!!! Christi
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful gatefold card.Lovely colors and great focal image.
ReplyDeleteSentiment so true!
I love that vintage image you have used and the orange and teal work so fab together! What an awesome card!!
ReplyDeleteBeeautiful vintage image makes a lovely card..........Lis
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Janis. (Love Graphic 45! Visited them on fb to tell them! LOL)
ReplyDeleteNo, I only had one cat and he didn't look like that. He was short haired and grey/white. We lost him in Aug. He was 21 yrs. old. My husband is allergic so we won't be getting any more but our son wanted so badly to get his sister a cat for Christmas one year when they were children. We didn't have the heart to refuse him. To this day his sister says it was the best present she ever got. It was hard to loose him after all that time but what can you do???
Love the image, love the colors and love how this card opens.
ReplyDeleteI am back from two days taking care of the grand-daughters and ready to admire all the cat themed projects. Wow, that Graphic 45 image was just made for this gatefold card design! I love the colors that you chose to mat your card and gorgeous sheer black bow is just luscious. I'm embarrassed to say that I have yet to make a card with this collection but I may have to dig in now that you've inspired me! As for cats; I only have one cat now, but we've had up to 5 at a time over the years...and they were all strays. One was a feral kitten that I lured out from under our shed with canned tuna...and he was probably my favorite. Bailey never got totally comfortable with anyone but me, but he did live inside the house for his 12 years. I had one that looks very much like this Graphic 45 kitty though, a long-haired dilute calico named Zoe. She never got larger than 8 lbs and was a petite and dainty miss. One thing I have is a lot of cat stamps, which I've collected over the years, so this was a fun hop challenge in every way. I will admit to having had more than my share of cat themed doo-dads as well, including cat earrings and a cat patterned vest that I made (shhhh....don't tell anyone though). Many of those cat thingies were donated and banned from the house years ago but I still remember them (sometimes, with an accompanying shudder...). Off to check out some of these fabulous kitty projects! Thanks Janis for coming up with such a fun themed hop!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful! Love that stunning paper and image Karen x
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning card. Such a vintage feel. And I do have a kitty that looks just like the image.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so wonderfully retro: sort of a cross between Art Noveau and Edwardian. I just love it. Do you think the kitty in the pic looks like a Maine Coon?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Tina in San Diego!
What a beautiful card! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hop, so fun!
