Snuggle up for the Season

Such a cool photo!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a fun little card that I desperately *tried* to make CAS, but I'm afraid I just don't have the knack.  (sigh...)  However, I couldn't resist trying to make an entry for CAS-ology this week because the theme was NBUS....and everyone's favorite bloggie funny gal, Darnell, was the guest designer.

I recently received this sweet little Stampendous - Snuggle Season stamp as part of a prize and thought this would be the ideal time to give it a test drive.  I stamped it with Memento - Tuxedo Black ink.

I've got lots of white space on my card which is good for CAS, but I just can't leave well enough alone.  I had to do some dry embossing, add some glitter "snow", and put some rick-rack on for a "horizon", too.  I am hopeless.  Ha!

At least, I tried to keep my coloring simple....so I only used four colors of watercolor pencils and my waterbrush.  Aren't these little nesting dolls an adorable idea for a winter grouping???  I can't remember what you call them....Russian dolls?  There's another name, but it escapes me.  One of you will know and tell me in the comments (I hope).  Anyway, I just love this sweet little image.

That's all for tonight.  Hope your weekend has been wonderful.  Thanks for stopping by to visit!!

  1. Janis, your post makes me smile! I love all the white space, and its OK to have dry embossing on there! You kept your coloring to a minimum, too...a very nice effect! Thanks for giving it the ol' college try and playing along with CASology using your NBUS...I love your card!

    1. Thank you, Judy, for your visit and encouraging words. I think I like "stuff" too much to ever do CAS the right way. It was fun giving a try, though! :)

  5. I think they're called Babushka dolls and I love your minimal coloring on these ones and how they're nestled on some glittery snow! Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!

    1. Oh, yes, Babushka is the term I was trying to remember!! In Sue's comment below, she mentions that they are AKA matryoshka dolls. Thanks for your sweet comment and the help with the info!! My brain needs a lot of that lately. Ughh....

    1. Thank you, Lis, for your sweet words. I haven't even started on Valentines, yet, because my Christmas craft things are still out and I have ideas I still want to try out! Ha. I guess if I am late enough, people will think I am just early for the next event! :D :D :D

  7. They are also known as matryoshka dolls.
Love the coloring on your card and I think it definitely qualifies as CAS.

    1. Thanks, Sue, for the info. That term "matryoshka" is new to me, so I had to look it up and find out more. I hope you have a lovely week!!!

  8. So darn cute! I see that others let you know that they are usually called matryoshka dolls....but we know that everyone REALLY just calls them Russian nesting dolls, ha ha! My grand-daughter, Remi, has the cutest set of those...except they're cats! I know what you mean about CAS being difficult because every time I try it, I keep fighting the tendency to add "just one more thing" too. The snowflake embossed white background and that added ric-rac is an adorable touch...so I vote YES!
